Weight Loss Success? Have You Succeeded? Here Are 4 Strategies That Guarantee Success

Weight loss success, has it eluded you?

You've tried all the fad diets, all the weight loss "formulas" and have even been scammed with those outright outrageous claims of quick and easy ways to lose weight.......

The truth is - there's no quick fix to weight loss.

The success, I guess, still goes back to the tried and true combo of exercise and eating healthy.

You're the clinching factor.

See, in practicing the said combo, you must consciously adapt to a healthy lifestyle and habits that would bring permanent changes to the way you exercise and eat, in order to lose weight and keep it off permanently.

How To Adapt To A Healthy Lifestyle?

I've gone through the process of losing weight and lost it successfully. I find these 4 strategies help heaps in my weight loss success.

1. Change Your Lifestyle

This isn't a cliche and doesn't mean you just exercise and eat healthy diet for a few weeks or for a few months; you've to ingrain these healthy behaviors into your life permanently.......

In the first place, take cognizance of the behaviors that have caused you to "balloon up".

You need to take an honest look at your current and past exercise, eating and daily habits. After "sinking" in everything, work out a strategy to progressively change your attitude, behavior and habit that you've identified sabotaging your past efforts to lose weight.

Make a call to deal with them and decide you want to succeed in losing weight, once and for all.

Be realistic! You're changing your lifestyle and it won't happen overnight. You would encounter the occasional setbacks; that's normal. However, don't give up pronto! Simply start afresh the next day and continue on with the healthy lifestyle you've set yourself up to achieve.

And you'll achieve it.

2. Set Realistic Goal

Set realistic goal that allows you to lose weight steadily, healthily and gradually over a reasonable period of time.

Remember I say there's no quick fix to this?

Aim to lose 1 to 2 lbs of weight per week through the combo of exercise and healthy eating.

The gist of this math is like this:

1 lb of weight = 3,500 calories

To lose 1 lb in a week, you need to create a caloric deficit of 500 each day through the combo, which translates to 500 calories x 7 days = 3,500 calories.

Don't rush to lose say 5 or 10 lbs in a week. You'll lose besides fat, lean body tissues, meaning you'll be losing something from your skin, hair, finger nails, heart and blood vessels......You sure don't want to lose anything from these areas, right?

Set your goal such that it's a progressive goal, e.g. to exercise regularly 3-4 times per week for 45 minutes per session, rather than a "result" goal, e.g. to lose 20 lbs.

Progressive goal is more realistic, specific and measurable.

3. Make A Commitment

No one can make you lose weight. Only you yourself can make it happen by taking the responsibility for your own behavior.

So, be very sure you're undertaking the exercise and diet changes for yourself, not for someone else because you want to please him/her or to ward off some external pressure from your parents, girlfriend/boyfriend, teacher......

Commit to lose weight and keep it off permanently. Mind you, it's not an easy task - it takes lots of mental and physical effort, time and focus and your willingness and preparedness to "over-haul" the changes.

Timing is important too in this. Don't plunge in for changes when you're right in the middle of some major life crises like marital or financial ones. You'd definitely be distracted.....

4. Get Emotional Support

Don't go solo when embarking on the changes.

You need support from your family, friends, partner or even working colleagues.

This is a crucial fact because you need encouragement, positive "nudge-ons" and helpful support, to go along with your effort.

Choose a family member or a friend who you know want only the best for you and who will provide you with the timely support and encouragement when you need them. It would be best to get one like-minded pal who can exercise and eat healthy together with you.

What I want to say is this -

In the past you work hard at losing weight but then don't know how to maintain that weight loss. I want to share with you that the best way to do that is to exercise and eat healthy for the rest of your life.

That may sound tough, and it is. But you'll soon realise that losing the weight was worth it and that it actually gets easier over time.....
