How to Lose Inches Off Your Belly

When it comes to losing weight from our waist, it seems that there's a new miracle method created every day. But in reality, there are no short cuts, magic pills or secret exercises.

What Is Belly Fat?
In a nutshell, belly fat is simply stored energy. Your body takes your excess calories and puts them somewhere safe, ready for the next famine. But in our modern Western lifestyle, the famine never happens. So the fat deposits grow larger and larger.

By cutting down on the high calorie foods you are effectively turning off the source of your big belly. Your aim is to put in slightly less calories per day than your body needs, so that it starts to eat into your fat reserves.

Don't go too far though. Crash dieting will do you more harm than good and only force your body into trying to protect its valuable store of fat energy.

Move More
In order to burn up the calories and kick start our bodies into losing weight we need to work up a sweat! That means getting out from behind our computer screen and becoming more active.

This doesn't mean you have to start pounding the treadmill. Once you have the thumbs up from your physician, any activity that gets your heart a pumpin' will do just fine!

Don't fancy jogging? Then grab a partner and go dancing. Not into pumping iron? Then pack a healthy low calorie lunch and go hiking through the countryside. If you want company as you walk, take your dog!

Change Your Lifestyle
Once the weight starts to disappear, you will feel fitter and more energetic. So this is a great time to join a club where you can share your enjoyment with like minded people. Meeting friends who share your interests will certainly combat the boredom that sometimes creeps in and they will give you added support when you need it.
